Artist Statement –Luna Moth (transformed)
“DT Luna moth“ Wholeness, unity, and the never-ending cycles of life form the heartbeat of my work. In this piece, the circle emerges as a powerful symbol—boundless and inclusive, with no edges to divide or corners to anchor. It holds energy, nurtures growth, and serves as a reminder of life’s eternal rhythms.
This concentric circle is inspired by the Luna Moth, a creature as ethereal as its name, drawn from Luna, the Roman goddess of the moon. The Luna Moth embodies transformation and renewal, its delicate existence echoing the cycles of rebirth and change. Like the moth’s instinct to seek light, we, too, are drawn toward illumination in times of transformation. The moth teaches us to trust the process of change, knowing that freedom and new beginnings lie just beyond the threshold.
The creation of this piece mirrors the moth’s graceful metamorphosis. Layer by layer, I used an airbrush to replicate the shifting hues and intricate patterns of the moth’s body, allowing the colors to evolve with each pass, much like the cycles of life itself. From a tangible paper artwork, this image was photographed and digitally reimagined—a transformation in its own right.
Through this work, I invite viewers to step into the circle, to reflect on the endless cycles of change and the unity that holds us together. It is a call to embrace transformation, trust in life’s perpetual flow, and seek the light that beckons us forward.
